There are different ways people use spaces. Some stay for a while, standing, sitting on benches or under trees that give them shadow. Others are on their way somewhere else, in transition. We want to know how pedestrians behave in certain places in Darmstadt, try out our latest form to map these behaviours.
You can read about counting, mapping, tracking, and other tools in Jan Gehl & Brigitte Svarre´s book How to study public life.
If you like working digitally, take a look at the People Watcher App!
This semester students from architecture, sports science, electrical engineering and computer science will join small project teams to develop a location-based smartphone game. Participants will develop concepts that entertain and stimulate physical activity and will develop and evaluate their prototypes for specific public spaces in Darmstadt.
